CABSAT Expo 2012

Tomorrow the 2012 CABSAT expo kicks off and goes on throughout the rest of the week. It is the Middle East’s largest digital media and satellite expo and is taking place in the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

ASTRA 3B via SES

This expo is the largest of it’s kind in this region and will showcase the latest and greatest products and services from the leading companies across the satellite and digital media sectors.

There are a number of varied suppliers attending the conference including SES and Norsat from the world of satellites and Blackmagic Design and Thomson Video Networks from the broadcasting world.

There are a number of launches and demonstrations taking place over the week including a new high-speed slow motion camera from Hitachi, launch of the EOS C300 fully -fledged motion picture camera from Canon and a walkthrough exhibit that will showcase end-to-end broadcast workflow process from Harris Broadcast Communications.

New to this years’ conference is the Cisco Executive Lounge. In it they will be giving live demonstrations including Videoscape and their new cloud-centric video and services platform which will provide the new generation of TV entertainment.

There will also be the GVF Satellite MENA summit. The day long forum will discuss what changes have been made combat satellite interference and what problems still remain. A number of satellite operators, manufacturers, users and industry experts will be in attendance including Martin Jarrold, Chief of International Programme Development, GVF, Stewart Sanders, Senior Vice President, Customer Service Delivery, SES Engineering; Chairman & Director, Space Data Association and Ali R Mohadjer, President & CEO, SatWays to discuss the various issues the industry is facing.

This expo, the World’s Third Largest event for the digital media industry will attract around 10, 000 visitors this week from over 100 countries so will be a popular event.
